Tummy time

Well, this is a new perspective...

What do I see over there??

Trying to figure it out...

Mom, any help?

Its my Raider dog!

Ok, I'm over this!

Weigh-in

Finally took Kellis by the doc's to weigh him. They thought I was crazy cause he didn't have weight issues at birth (obviously) and I'm not due for an appointment for another 3 weeks. I couldn't stand it though, I had to know how much he weighs. He is always hungry! It seems like I double his feedings every day. He's 5 weeks old tomorrow, close enough!

Rolling

Kellis can roll onto his side. He has no idea what he's doing but he's very comfortable there and likes to sleep that way. I keep him swaddled 99% of the time so he can't get in his position b/c he's too little to know not to suffocate himself, but for naps once a day I let him have his hands out and this is what happens. He's so strong and heavy I think its just momentum that rolls him over but its still pretty remarkable. I guess all that peanut butter I ate was doing its job. His muscle tone is incredible.

Wardrobe

So I figured I should get some pics of Kellis in his cute outfits before he grows out of them.

Ralph Lauren outfit from Great Aunt Rozanna. The onsie is almost too small but the (what do you call it?) overalls are big enough for another few weeks. If only I could get him to make a normal face. We have a lot of camera training to do!

Monkey jammies. These aren't going to be too small for a while but they are so cute I couldn't wait to put them on him.

Crazy day

Kellis is 3 weeks old today!
-I already have a storage container of clothes that are too small for him. He has a really long torso and skinny body, so only certain brands of clothes fit him. This should be interesting.
-I want to take him to be weighed, maybe later this week? Probably not but I'm thinking about it.
-Huggies size 1 are smaller than Pampers size 1. I'm almost through one package but I have 2 more and no receipts or idea where they are from. I guess I'll just hurry up and use what I can before he gets any bigger.

We had a good morning, fed/pumped and back to sleep which was very much needed after being awake 3-4 hours in the middle of the night. Then it got interesting.
Had a very crazy afternoon today.

4pm:
-Kellis peed everywhere when I changed him. I was pretty upset cause he was in a cute outfit and I hadn't taken his picture yet.
-When I say everywhere, I mean the wall, the bed, the trash can, me, himself and the floor. It was like that commercial where the guy pulls the diaper back and it sprays everywhere. I was pretty mad b/c I actually wore normal people clothes today and looked relatively decent.
-He was also starving so I gave him a bottle while bathing him (I'm really proud of this). I developed a new way to bathe him by myself (previously Scott helped) that seems to work. Bottle in one hand, soap on the other. I feel good that he's clean.
-Outfit #2 on - also very cute and picture-worthy. (shirt #2 on me)
-Apparently the bath was traumatic cause then he spit up all over me, his outfit and his self.
-Outfit #3 on - shirt #3 on me. (gave up on super cute and picture taking)
-Its only 5pm.
-Finally got him to sleep, sat down on the couch to relax for a minute. Got into a show.
6pm.
-Realized my phone was in the bedroom and I hadn't heard from Scott. Went to get it. K wakes up when I stand up.
-Figured I should change K before he was starved and screaming.
-Good thing, cause he started screaming.
-Stuck a bottle in his mouth, saw I missed 2 text and a call from Scott. Great, probably he's going to be late.
-Yup, he's going to be late. Has no idea when he'll be here.
-Fed K, pumped and realized Raider needed caring for if Scott was going to be late.
-Fed Raider, made K another bottle (damage control).
-Got the stroller out of the car. Had trouble unfolding it. Almost started sweating. (this is a huge problem cause its all I can do to shower once a day)
-Got K in the stroller, Raider on the leash (stopped for a second to take myself potty).
-Got us all out the door, Raider pottyed right away (poor guy).
- Really proud of how Raider did walking with the stroller. I imagined much worse behavior by him. He is really taking to being a big brother.
-Had to look hilarious taking the stroller over to get a poo bag, back to pick up the poo and back to deposit it in the trash can. Next time we'll bring a bag with us.
7:30pm
-Finally got to make myself some dinner. Only my 2nd meal today, what a day!
-Kellis fell asleep before drinking his bottle which means he'll be awake in 45min-1hour and want it.
-Let's hope he sleeps better tonight.

Texan

I just realized that Kellis is a Texan.
A 100% born and (will be) bred Texan.
This makes me monumentally happy.

I know that is probably obvious to all, but I am not 100%, more like 98%. "I got here as fast as I could" was plastered to the rear window of my car for many years. I couldn't be happier to live here, as many of you know I spent many years wishing I lived here before the dream was realized (thanks mom & dad).

I'm singing (poorly) Pat Green to him right now.
"I Like Texas" actually made me tear up.
I dont tear up.
I can't wait to take him to Luckenbach, Gruene, the Guadalupe, Lubbock, etc. etc. etc. etc.
Time to play "Southbound 35."

God Bless Texas.

Charts

So my friends always post their kids height/weight/head circ percentiles when updating milestones. I completely forgot about this! My pediatrician hasn't told me numbers or anything, but obviously Kellis was huge when he was born. Here is what I found online:
Length = above 95% (it went off the chart)
Weight = above 90%
Head Circumference = 90%
He lost a pound the first week, but has gained it all back by now (and probably more, I dont have a scale). So he is still huge for his age. I can attest to this b/c my arms are so sore and I have serious neck/shoulder pain from holding him all the time.

As well as being big, he is very very strong. His muscles are really developed. Here is a pic of him holding up his head looking at me. He does this when he's on his tummy. He'll turn it side to side and stare at me. Friday he held it up and had serious control for a good 2 minutes. Sometimes he has trouble controlling it, but Friday was amazing. I was able to grab the camera and catch it, he was having such fun holding it up. His face is priceless too, like he isn't quite sure what he's doing.

Photo time

Kellis looks so good in blue, I tried to get some pics with his eyes open and they turned out to be more entertaining than anything. He is finally fitting into more of the clothes I have.

Turn off the flash!

Streetccchhh that neck

Well, I guess I can wake up....

Kellis Joseph

I promise I'll write more later, just wanted to get this info out there.

Kellis Joseph was born June 29th at 5:57pm. He was 9lbs 4oz and 22in long. Everyone in the room was in shock at his size. He (as all babies do) lost almost a pound in the first few days but he is still a big boy.

Labor was super easy (God bless modern medicine) and everyone did great. We are home and figuring it all out. He is very very strong and can already hold his head up and move it around.

Raider is having a hard time with mommy being busy with something else (we dont know if he considers Kellis a person) and he's pretty lonely after 4 months of being with me 24/7. He and Scott are re-bonding as they sleep on the couch at night so they dont get woke up by Kellis.

Lots of pics are on facebook and I'll write a more detailed post soon. (assuming my new method of getting him/me to sleep at night holds up).

Thanks for all the wishes and prayers. He is really a perfect little miracle.

T-minus 4 days and counting

Well, I'm still pregnant! Lots of people thought I would go this weekend. I'm due on the 2nd dang it, don't you know how stubborn I am? Tell me something and I will always do the opposite. I'm Amanda.

I have my last scheduled doctor's appointment tomorrow, I have no idea what she will say. She was certain I would go this weekend also. (she of all people may have been able to predict but nope) I hope I don't send her into early labor when I walk into the office. (She's due in August). I am hoping for Raider's sake she tells me that I'm seriously dilated and need to go to the hospital. If I am not in labor by Friday at 8pm (when the kennel closes), I am going to be a nervous wreck all weekend. He's still my first baby and I want him to be taken care of! Especially since its a holiday weekend. Messy.

Someone looked at our house Sunday. I told the realtor to follow up with them (sad I have to prompt her) and a couple others who looked in the last week or so and get some feedback. I told her I was due Friday, maybe that will speed her up a bit. I'll sign the stupid papers while pushing if I have to, sell my house!

Nothing else to report! I'll let you know what the doc says tomorrow. I hear thunder so I think I'm about to lose my tv signal. OUR dish hardly ever went out in storms but this community dish thing is pure crap!

10 days to go

Went to the doc today. Nothing major to report. Gained less than a pound. Dilated around 1/2cm more. She asked if I had a high pain tolerance. LOL Like I was having contractions and didnt know it! I said no way, I am a huge wimp. I'm quite sure I will know when I have a contraction. So we are just waiting still. Everyone is way more anxious than me. I can wait another week or two if it means he is full term and can breathe and go home after 2 days. I dont know why everyone is in such a rush.
Going on month 5 of our house being on the market. Please pray hard for it to sell! This is our #1 priority as we wait for the baby. We have to get that thing sold!

3 of 3

Well, Leanne had Andrew today around lunch time! (c-section) everyone is good from what I hear.

So I am the last! I had a feeling I would be.

Reagan was due June 29th - born June 11th (18 days early) - 7lbs 2oz 19"
Andrew was due July 8th - born June 16th (22 days early) - 7lbs 2oz 19"
Baby Harkness due July 2nd - ??????????????

I'm just hoping to make it past our anniversary on Friday and breastfeeding class on Saturday. Grandma Harkness' birthday is Monday the 21st and she's hoping for a phone call as a present. hehe

37 weeks 4 days

No pics, sorry. I look the same!

Went to the doc this morning. I got a goodie bag of free stuff!

Gained zero pounds this time.
Baby's heartrate was good - 156 or something.
Said I am about 1/2cm more than last week. I guess this is good cause I'm moving along but not having any pain or anything with it. Still running errands and doing my normal life stuff.
Oh! I think my feet are kinda starting to get a little swollen if I stand up or sit too long. I'm actually excited about this, its my first real serious pregnancy symptom.
2 weeks and 3 days to go

I'm trying to think of new names for the blog. Suggestions?

Early morning

So baby harkness has decided when he's hungry he will throw a fit until I eat something. Today this happened at 6am. Raider had to pee anyways and was staring at me creepily so I just got up. Funny thing is, I'm not even tired. I'll be tired about 9am. Going to the doc at 11:45 so wont get a nap until after lunch.

Well, I have updates on my friends:
Stacy is doing good, she had a rough time and ended up with a c-section but her and baby Reagan are doing good and are home now.
Leanne's little man is deciding to hang out a while, she's been 4 days off the medication and zero contractions. His sister continues to learn new tricks and keep Leanne on her toes. I can't wait to see how Lauren is with her baby brother.
Talked to Lyndsey's cousin and she is doing well, her doctor thinks she will make it full term! The babies are about 2lbs each right now.

Got the dish/cable all fixed yesterday. Turns out the apt complex has dish network running through the walls, and the cable company just provides the service as a 3rd party. Really strange but we wont have to learn a new system and we get more channels for the same price AND free movie channels for 3 months b/c of the new service. Score!

Had childbirth class 2/3 last night, the last one for us. (we did 3/3 in May) It was ok, pretty standard stuff they told us. We have a breastfeeding class Saturday morning and then we're done with classes.

Got the denali all registered and inspected yesterday. Its officially ours and officially a Texas vehicle! The dmv in Frisco is nicer than any other dmv on the planet. I was so amazed. And there was no line, the woman took my paperwork, I paid her and it was so simple and easy. I was out of there in no time at all. The library is in the same building and its on a cute little square where they have farmers markets and shops and stuff. We both are really hoping to find a house in Frisco now. McKinney is awesome but too far for Scott to drive to work. I need to have the realtor update the search so I can see whats out there in Frisco. Maybe I'll buy a lotto ticket. ha

Doc today at 11:45. Everyone keeps saying I'll be early. I dont feel like I will. I have everything ready just in case but still no symptoms and I feel totally normal. Aside from seeing baby harkness, I am very excited for people to stop asking me how I feel. Its so annoying.

Babies galore!

Well, Stacy was due June 29th and her water broke last night! She's at St. Lukes now! Waiting to hear when Reagan makes her appearance. Wish I was closer!!!

Leanne got to go off her anti-contraction medication today. Chances are she'll be in labor this weekend and Andrew will be here early as well. (he's a c-section tho so it'll be quicker) He was due July 5th-ish but was going to be delivered via c-section June 29th. (I think those dates are right.)

Kelly, due July 25th, is still working! She is having braxton-hicks but otherwise still truckin along.

There are SOOO many other prego friends due later this year or early next year!
Amber, Keli, Kimberly, Kacie, Lyndsey
Lyndsey is having twin girls, due in August.. has anyone heard from her??
If I forgot you, comment please!

No contractions for me yet, I'm just getting really really tired lately. I couldnt even go to walmart today after I took Scott to work. He's going to get the new car this weekend so it will just be me and the Raider dog laying on the couch all weekend. Good thing I recorded about 20 movies on the dish. And I have to watch them all cause they are coming to take the receiver Monday morning. :( Boo hoo. I am so sad to have to get rid of it, but there is nothing we can do. We face the NW and the only way to get a signal is to hang the dish off the balcony which is a breech of lease contract. Dont wanna get kicked out!
The cable company better be amazing, I have very high expectations.
Already a plus: we get FX and FSN again!

Update

Went to the doc today. She measured Baby Harkness again and he is 5lbs 15oz and 19"long. As they are supposed to gain 1/2lb a week that tells me the last measurement 4 weeks ago was pretty wrong. (told ya) I asked and she said they can be +/- 1lb.

Everything else looks great! I only gained 2lbs this time (in 2 weeks) I am dilated 2.5cm already. (I shoulda bet money on that, I was pretty sure I was) and he is head-down ready to go. Now I just sit around and wait 3 weeks. No contractions yet or swelling, just feeling big, walking funny and peeing a lot. She didn't change my due date or say anything alarming.

I went to the "boarding house" on the way home and got Raider's paperwork all turned in so we can just drop him off when we go to the hospital. I think he is better. His bm's have been normal for 2 days now. I didnt take him to the vet, cause I think he is ok. He's really itchy and I need to get him back on his allergy medicine. I stopped all medicine when he was having issues.

Scott is going to Bloomington this weekend to pick up our "new" car. So that will be a big relief.

We had childbirth class 1/3 last night, got some more information. It wasn't anything I hadn't heard before. They did some breathing exercises and we are supposed to practice. Class 2/3 is next Monday then we are done with those! Breastfeeding class is the 19th. We are touring the hospital tonight.

The hospital I'm at is so new they dont have new babies online. Good thing we have smart phones! We are also going to buy a new camera soon. Not that we ever use a regular camera but apparently we plan to start.

36 weeks

4 weeks to go!
Dr appt next Tuesday
Gained 30 pounds so far (all out in front).
Heartburn is my only symptom still.
No contractions, pain, cravings or weird things going on.
He's still really active certain times of day, twisting, turning, rolling and kicking about in there.

Front view to show how out in front he is.

a look back

Thought I would put all the prego pics together to see the changes.

Biggest change in my opinon: I stopped wearing makeup and fixing my hair! haha

Car seat check

So I was educated just now on car seats. I opted for the "check" at the hospital instead of a 3 hour class. I'm glad I did b/c I'm sure in the class they showed crash videos and hurt kid statistics. I dont need to see that. And you'll see I got a LOT of info in just those 30 minutes.

Summary: My kid will probably scream and cry the entire time we are in the car b/c hes going to be rear facing with no toys until he's big enough for a booster seat. The seat belt has to go across their hips and not their stomach. So if you are ever in the situation where you have to drive my kid, you'll be driving my car where his seat is installed properly and he fits correctly.

They showed us how to properly tighten the harness in the infant seat and how it should sit on them and why its designed that way. It was really informative. If you are going to be taking my kid anywhere, you'll get a lesson from me on this. Its pretty much pointless to have a carseat unless you install and buckle it properly b/c they will just fly out of it in a wreck.

They said rear facing is the safest for a kid until the carseat cant hold them rear facing anymore (most convertible carseats are meant to be both), because it protects their spines in the event of a crash and their head wont whip forward. Most of the convertible ones will hold a kid up to like 40 pounds (i forget but it was as lot) or something rear facing. They even said mirrors are bad b/c when the kid whips back they can crack their head on it. This made me very sad b/c i want to use my mirror. Dallas drivers are really awful and i dont know where i am going half the time so its even more scary for me driving up here.

There was a guy there switching his seats to front facing and the ladies were ripping him a new one. He didnt seem to care, he wanted his kid to face forward. They said its up to the parents and most switch to front facing for convenience at around 12-18 months, but they don't recommend it. (they said they can bend their legs, they will deal with it, its their spine the seat is protecting)

I also discovered my explorer is really small. the carseat, even in the middle, touched the passenger seat (it was all the way back) and they said it couldnt so i had to move it up. i cant imagine how that works in smaller cars. i thought my car was big! false.

on a positive note, they were all raving about my carseat and said chicco is the best and easiest brand to install, they took it out of my car and made me re-do it and it was super easy. i had scott do it this weekend thinking i wouldnt be able to pregnant. they knew i could is why they showed me.

I failed to use capitalization when typing this. Sorry.

Random thoughts

The last few days and random thoughts.

Saturday we had lunch with new friends! Leanne was roommates with Kelly up here in Dallas and Kelly still lives in McKinney, so we met them for lunch at her parents house (with a pool!). It was a great time and we look forward to hanging out with them again soon. They are expecting a boy at the end of July. Very exciting!!!

Monday I went to Ft. Worth to visit Deann and her adorable twins. (Deann is my good friend Melissa's sister, Melissa from Tech, most of you met her I brought her to IL once and she was in my wedding) The twins are very good and very entertaining. I got to experience lunch time with them and I told Deann she needs to video tape it, everyone should see how hilarious it is. And it would be a good reminder to me when I am trying to feed ONE baby carrots. haha

Tuesday I went to the doctor. She was in a hurry cause someone was about to deliver, so it was just quick measurements and I was out of there. Easy trip. I did gain 3 pounds in 2 weeks however and this is slightly alarming to me, b/c I know its ALL baby and he is going to be huge. So I go back in 2 weeks for the strep b test and she'll check my cervix and then its weekly after that! It all went so fast and I'm ready to have a lap and be able to bend over again.

When I was leaving, I got in the elevator, a drug rep got in and the door was closing and I heard someone grunt/half yell ahh! So out of pure instinct (no brain power involved) I threw my hand into the closing door and stopped it and this old man hobbled up. He was so shocked that I had stopped the door. He talked to me all the way to the parking lot. People here are so nice! Apparently its rubbing off on me. (haha)

Oh yes and my CVS deal. Went in there (its the closest store to our apt) to see what their diaper selection was like and they were on sale! 11.99 to 8.99 and I had a $0.50 off coupon! So I grabbed a pack and a bottle of water and went to the register. The guy said 7.32. I was like... uh.... ok! No idea how they were that cheap, they rang up 5.99. Scott said I should go back and buy more. (I didnt)

Today I am going to the hospital for the car seat check. I stirred up a lot of controversy on fb when I posted a question about it. After much debate, I have left the seat in the middle strapped in with only the seat belt. If it is on the passenger side, Scott would be cramped and if its behind the drivers seat Scott couldnt drive at all. So its in the middle. On a related note, we are trying to sell the Jeep, there have been a lot of calls and interest but weather and scheduling hasnt allowed anyone to actually look at it. When we do sell it, we are getting a bigger suv (buying from my parents) and we'll decide at that time if I am going to take the bigger car or keep the explorer. It really doesnt matter to me, I only go to the doctor and grocery store so I'm letting Scott pick which car he wants to drive. (how nice of me!)

No plans this weekend. Probably just relaxing and taking a walk or two. I have been so tired lately. Next week we have a CPR class on Wednesday night and then no classes again until the 15th. I hate waiting around for these classes! I even looked at other hospitals and they are all full.

No one has looked at our house in a couple weeks. Very frustrating to say the least. With the holiday weekend coming up I'm guessing thats gonna set us back another week. School will be out really soon though, so hopefully people will be getting their butts in gear and buying houses. I dont know what we will do if it isn't sold in another month. We are praying hard.

I should take another belly pic but I'm too sleepy to mess with it.

34 weeks (no pic)

34 weeks today. My lilypie ticker says 42 days to go. Seems pretty short! Since I have so many random thoughts to share, I'm going to continue the list type blog entries for now.

Observations/happenings since the last post:

-Went to our first Prepared Childbirth class last night. It was actually the third class out of the series, due to the fact that I moved here so late and all their classes were full. So we are taking the first two sessions in June. Its not ideal but I wanted to make sure and get all 3 of them in. The class went well, the nurse teaching it was really nice. Scott didnt freak out or anything but lets all be glad there are smartphones with games on them. He needed to be distracted a few times.
-The hospital is amazing. I havent even had an official tour yet and I love it. I have heard amazing things about it and only seen a small portion of it but it doesnt even look/feel like a hospital. I drove past it 3 times and didnt know it was a hospital. Inside is very very nice. I'm hoping to do an official tour on Monday night. Here is the link: http://www.bmcf.com/ click on Womens Center at the top and pictures to see the labor/delivery/nursery areas.

-I found a kennel that is literally in the same parking lot as the hospital. I am going to call and annoy the crap out of them today with questions. I downloaded the paperwork and I have Raider's shot records all ready to go.

-Baby clothes/blankets and miscellaneous paraphanalia are all washed and put away. We are planning to go to the Harley store to see if they have any newborn sized outfits for him to wear home from the hospital. Very exciting.

-Raider went 2 weeks in the apt before peeing on the floor. He is so stubborn and distracted when I take him out at night, he wont go and then he has to go really really bad in the morning and Scott gets ready before taking him, and even then he can get distracted and not go. We have started keeping his leash shorter (so he feels more secure) and I have extended the amount of time between potty breaks so he HAS to go and will. He is still very interested in chasing animals of all sorts. Luckily it has only rained one day so I havent had to deal with that mess.

-Dusting, vacuuming, cloroxing and organizing a 900sf apartment is so much faster than a 2200sf 2-story house. I think the time I save is wasted on the extra time it takes to rinse/wash dishes in a 2 inch sink with no sprayer head. Seriously annoying.

-There is nothing good on TV between 11pm and 6pm. (meaning I only watch shows that are on from about 7-10pm) This is good and bad. It keeps me from vegging out all day so I wont get lazy and fat but also keeps me from relaxing or resting as much as I probably should.

-I dont have a new pic cause I dont feel any bigger. I think I've been the same size for a couple weeks now. I go to the doc on Tuesday so we will see.

-I met a pediatrician on Wednesday and I like her. The office is small but I think thats good cause we will get to know her better and it wont be crowded with snotty kids. When I went to meet her, I was the only one there. Its close to the hospital and only about 10 min from the apt. I really hope we can get a house on this side of town, as I am establishing doctors and loving the area a lot.

-We are meeting new friends on Saturday! The amazing Leanne Trott introduced me (via facebook) to her roommate in Dallas, Kelly. We have been talking and are having a bbq with her and her husband on Saturday in McKinney. I'm excited! She is about 5 weeks behind me in pregnancy so I'm sure our conversations will be really irritating to the husbands. LOL

-We are trying to sell the Jeep. Its on craigslist, ebay classifieds and autotrader.com. Hopefully it will sell sooner than our house is taking to sell. My dad is selling us his Denali, since he doesnt drive it that much (soccer van!) and Scott needs a more normal stable vehicle.

That's all I can think of right now.

Pics!

Finally took some pics yesterday!

View from front door into living room. There are built in bookshelves on either side of the entryway. A huge lifesaver since we have so much stuff.

View of the front door (see the bookcase) and kitchen from the couch. The stroller will be moving to the back of my car in a few weeks, but it fits quite nicely right there. (and is full of baby clothes I need to wash)

Tv/chair, other bookcase (small door is a HUGE awesome closet) taken from the eating area. Ray wanted to be in the pic.

Left half of the kitchen.

Right half of the kitchen. One good thing about it being so small is Raider cant sneak in and get in my way. He lays on the carpet at the edge of the wood. The dreaded electric stove.

Eating area/babys bedroom. Kitchen is to the right, see my office chair? The door to the patio is to the left. Its a very decent sized eating area for an apartment. Combined with the kitchen (why did they break it up so much?) its not much smaller than our house's kitchen.

The office. To the left is the kitchen doorway, to the right is the living room. Behind me is the eating area. Yea, I crammed an entire bedroom's worth of stuff in this space. (99% of our books went to storage) Good thing there are cabinets. Oh, see the cord going around the corner? The printer is sitting on the serving bar between the kitchen and living room. Nowhere else to put it.

Worlds smallest laundry room. Hot water heater hangs above the dryer. That door goes out to the garage. Oh, and with a front loader, you have to keep the washer door open to air out. Yeah so every night I have to run out and meet Scott and remind him not to run into it. On a positive note though, it doesnt shake at all anymore so that is good. Scott said it was really unlevel on the pedestal. Stupid Sears delivery ppl. Stealing my packing bolts and not leveling my washer.

Bedroom. Guest bedding is on top, along with 5 extra pillows. I have nowhere to put them so they just keep moving around the bedroom.

My "half" of the closet.

Scotts "half" of the closet. Its super small.

I was about to go out and get a pic of the front door and garage but it just started raining. Next time!

Oh, and I took this pic of myself yesterday too. Do I look bigger? I feel huge. And my hair is out of control. Its so windy here!

32 weeks 4 days

Hoping to have a pic soon! I located the camera, now I just have to get Scott to cooperate and take a pic of this belly.

And what a belly it is! I went to the doc today and according to her fancy machine, Baby Harkness is a whopping 5lbs 3oz and 17 inches long! I (of course) don't fully believe this b/c it just doesnt make sense that he would be that big and me not be HUGE. My friend Leanne is due July 8th (having a c-section June 29th) and her baby Andrew is only weiging in at 3.5lbs. My friend Stacy is due July 29th and her baby Reagan is weighing in at 4lbs 14oz. Scott is proud our kid is the biggest. I have no idea how it is possible, given that since I am not working I dont eat nearly as much as I used to. Everyone is saying, oh good maybe he will be early. Well, I would prefer he stay in there until July. We have 2 Harkness anniversaries (ours is the 18th), Gram's birthday (21st) and Aunt Tammy's birthday (27th). I wanted his to be in July so we could spread them out a little. We'll see how it goes!

So my new doctor! My Woodlands doctor recommended her b/c they are friends. Now when doctors say they are friends with each other, I dont really know what that means. You went to college together, maybe did a semester of residency or like buddies who still call and visit each other? Apparently these two are pretty good friends. They both went to school together and had a practice together for a year or so. My doctor is from here and is pregnant with her 2nd, so they decided to come back to this area to be closer to family. It was different for me going to a doctor's office with only 2 doctors, and only one of them an OB. My previous doctor was in a practice with 4-5 other OB's so the office was huge and there were lots of people always in the waiting room. The office was only 12 minutes from the apartment and I skipped the freeway. That was great. It is a pretty new building and was very nice. Dr. Holt met with me in her office to go over a few things before doing an ultrasound, which I appreciated. The ultrasound was fairly short but confirmed the position I thought him to be in. She measured his femur and head and came up with the weight. Since he is head down and facing inward, she was unable to get any pics. We'll see him soon enough!

Apartment update:
-Raider is slightly better at going on the leash. He did recently discover squirrels live in the yard and they climb trees. This is a problem.
-Vacuuming takes about 1/6 of the time it took in the house.
-Walmart is 4 minutes away.
-Groceries and every store, restaurant, shop and retail place you could possibly think of are within 10 minutes drive. Probably less than that. Its so great to be near things. On the other hand, when we have a house it will be noisier b/c the neighborhoods aren't as secluded and quiet as the ones in The Woodlands. Trade-offs.
-I unpacked the LAST BOX this afternoon. I'm too tired to put the clothes away though so either Scott will have to help me tonight or I will do it tomorrow.
-Our storage unit is full to the brim, so I am having to be creative how I store things in the apartment now. We should have kept a set of the garage shelves for this garage, I could really use the space.
-Space saver bags are really fun!
-Pics coming soon, when I have that last box of clothes put up.
-Nothing on our house yet. I think I'm gonna lower the price another couple k. Pray for that to work!

Bout time!

Well. I haven't posted in forever. I thought, hey maybe I'll write blog ideas in my notebook and type them later. Oh, better yet I'll set up the computer and type them then copy/paste when the internet is hooked up. As you can well imagine, neither happened. Internet finally got hooked up today and I have so many updates to read I dont even know where to begin. I have a few boxes to go through still, so I'm just skimming your blogs for now (and looking at cute kiddo pics).

So my last post was April 22nd. I have since finished my job, had a Texas baby shower, packed the entire house (well, mom packed it), moved to Plano, unpacked and tried to make some order of this place. I havent left the apt since I got here except to take Ray potty. I consider this a good thing. I've gotten a lot done and he is adjusting well.

A few observations so far:

-the dishwasher is insanely loud. this is a bad thing but could double as white noise possibly. tbd
-i hate electric stoves. i knew i preferred gas but now i know. my next house MUST have a gas option for the stove/oven. i cannot cook on electric and i am terrified of it.
-paying extra for a deep sink in our house was the greatest thing we did.
-if i can fit everything i want/need in this small place, maybe we can by a smaller house.
-one bathroom with one sink is not enough for me, scott and raider.
-showers in bathtubs are the most wonderful thing ever. our shower in the house was so small.
-having a yard is a huge deal. even if its really small (like they are here in dallas)
-trash pickup on the curb 3 days a week is amazing. and will be super when we have diapers in the trash
-not working is more tiring than working. and i hear it gets worse with a baby.
-i no longer have a hose connection so Raider is going to get very stinky.
-you can never have enough closets
-space saver bags might be the best invention of the millennium
-my insanity has paid off several times so far. translation: i was right.
-Raider did amazing in the car on the way here. Proof I can train him to do anything.
-I see my new doc Tuesday.

I took some pics on my phone yesterday as I was unpacking. I'll take more when the boxes are all out. They are on facebook. I'm too lazy to copy/paste them here.

Hopefully more updates soon.

Delay

Well I haven't posted in a while. Sorry! I have a lot to write about! I'm at work so I dont have any pics on me. Facebook has some and maybe I'll post some later on.

I turned in my two weeks notice last Thursday. My last day of work will be April 29th. I am very excited about this. It is also kinda scary to not have 2 incomes. It was a leap of faith for sure. My company is great and I feel really bad about getting pregnant and moving within 8 months of being employed here. It never ceases to amaze me how distraught people are when I leave a job. They think the place will burn to the ground if I'm not here.

I scheduled the movers! They are coming May 5th. I hope they get here early b/c when they leave Ray and I will be loading up and driving us to Plano. I'm hoping to leave as early as possible to beat rush hour. I hope the vet will give me some drugs for Raider. He's gotten so much better in the car but a 4 hour trip will be hard on him and I'm scared to stop places by myself. I've also changed our address on nearly everything (I hope!). I sent a mass email, if you didn't get it let me know. (no creepers!)

Our house isn't sold btw. We dropped the price on April 10th. We were hoping people would capitalize on the $8,000 govt rebate for signing a contract by April 30th. So far, no offers. Lots of lookers though. Which is a huge pain but one of them will be THE one so I deal with it.
I decided I need to move after talking to my doctor on the 14th. Luckily I got in with a new doctor and I'll see her starting May 11th. She delivers at 3 different hospitals, so I will have to tour them and see which one I like best. I'm pretty excited to have choices. Two of them I know are within 15 minutes of our apartment.

I went to IL for a baby shower April 9-11th. It was good to see everyone and eat Avantis, Grady's and Monical's. And I FINALLY met Katie's husband! He does exist and his accent isnt quite as Canadian as I imagined. hehe
The shower was the 10th. I got a nice amount of things, my mom & dad only had to ship one box to me. The rest was money or giftcards which will be coming in handy very very soon. My aunt hand crocheted me a blanket for the baby, which I LOVE. She made my brother and I baby blankets and my parents have afghans for their recliners she made years ago. I am so excited my baby has one from her too. I think her technique has improved over the years, its really thick. My mom also had a comforter custom made for me by a parent at her school. She took my bedding pattern/colors and its kinda quilted together out of super soft felty material. I'll probably not even get the bedding I wanted b/c I can just get sheets to match this comforter. Oh, and she made a bear to match! Its so cute and has a pocket in the back for the tooth fairy when its time for all of that. I also got several books which I am happy about. Those are things I dont think of but definitely want/need. It was a really great shower!

My brother-in-law Randel fixed up my car while I was in IL. He gave it a major tune-up (I'm just about to hit 70k miles) and finally got some air in my tires. I'm so glad he has all of the car knowledge he does. I hope one day I can repay him for what we truly owe him for everything he has done.

My Houston shower is coming up May 1st. My mom is flying in for it. She'll be sleeping on an air mattress and sharing our bathroom cause the guest room furniture and bathroom accessories are in Plano now. Oops. We are expecting a good crowd at this shower as well. Melissa is even flying in from LA for it!!! It will be kinda sad though, it will be the last time I see most of my friends before I move. I know, I know we'll see them again. They all better be planning road trips!

Raider had dental surgery Tuesday. I wanted to get the last of the broken teeth out before the move. Turns out there were more problems than we could see with the eye. It was an extensive surgery and he was really out of it. It kinda freaked me out cause I was home alone with him. I had to pick him up to get him out of the car. He could barely stand to pee his legs were so shaky. He was swerving trying to walk thru the yard. (that part was kinda funny) He is great now though, just wants to play and I cant let him have his toys for at least a week. I tried to explain that I paid a lot of money for those stitches to be there and I wasnt about to let him rip them out. He doesnt seem to grasp that quite yet. He's doing good though and I'm glad the teeth are out. The vet had never seen anything like it. I think he should have paid me for the learning experience but whatcha gonna do? haha

Seems like I have more to tell you but that's all I can think of right now. Is that enough? Again, sorry for the lack of pics. I wanted to get this all out though. :)
