Mohawk!
I finally got Kellis’ hair to stand up. He has the most random growth pattern. Its long just in the middle in the front, but its so thin its hard to do anything with.

Little Rock
Well, as you can imagine my mom was needing to see Kellis again, it having been a month since we left Illinois. So we all drove to my brother’s in Little Rock for the weekend. It was a 6 hour drive there and a 5 1/2 hour drive back. We learned which way NOT to go. It was a nice easy drive. I can say that b/c Scott drove the entire way, both ways. Usually I do most of the driving b/c he is tired but I was keeping Kellis quiet in the back seat so he appreciated that.
Kellis was starting to get a cold I had the week before so he wasn’t his usually happy self but he had fun playing.
My mom brought him a walker to play in. The same one she borrowed at Christmas at her house.
Pawpaw Joe explaining things. He has a lot to teach Kellis.
My mom has been on me since Kellis was born to take him on stroller rides. That’s all I hear about, how she and Jeanise used to put me and Ashleigh in strollers and walk and walk. Well, Kellis was born in the summer and it was too hot. Then we moved and I was slightly leery of the neighborhood. Then it’s been cold. I can think of excuses all day. So she finally got her hands on the stroller and put him in it and took him around the block a few times in LR. He liked it, he almost fell asleep. As soon as the weather is nice we’re going to do it here too.
The weather there was so amazing, Kellis was practicing his walking in the sunshine. (no, he is nowhere close to walking or standing on his own but he sure likes to pretend)
Cash Spencer-Foutch the most well behaved dog on the planet. And possibly the only dog afriad of Raider.
Kellis in his new tub. I brought it along b/c he likes it so much and its easier to bring than that big old plastic one.
Got a family pic finally! Sure, the day I don’t wear makeup.
Jenna couldn’t believe Adam actually held a baby. I think he liked it.

Six
Here are the stats from his doctor appointment.
Weight: 16.46lbs - 32%
Length: 27.75" - 90%
Head: 17" - 20% - this measurement isn't entirely accurate cause he kept grabbing her hand and I didnt make her redo it.
So he is still really really tall but his weight has leveled out BIG time. (at 2mo he was 73%) So he is tall and skinny basically! Still no teeth but she said his gums are swollen so there is definitely activity there. He is sitting up remarkably well. He can sit for minutes at a time and is good at catching himself if he teeters in either direction. He grabs anything that is within his eyesight, so we are having to be careful what is nearby. Finally started taking him to the grocery store in the bijorn carrier instead of his carseat. He loves looking around and I can get in and out so much faster. I felt bad he had to be in his seat for the entire 15 hour drive to & from Illinois, hence the bijorn coming out. We started oatmeal and he is gradually coming around to it. He's not thrilled with it. We also started squash and he really likes it. He gets mad when its all gone! He got a great new wardrobe for Christmas and lots of new toys and books. He is set for a while now! My mom even dug out some of our old books she had been keeping, I'm so excited for him to have them. I remembered most of them from when we were little. I have a lot more to report and sorry I've been so bad at posting, its been a crazy month! Kellis just went to sleep after 7 hours of being awake and 2 torture sessions where I tried to get him to sleep and he refused. Its time for me to go sit and stare at the wall for a while. Oh I have a lot of pics too, coming soon!

Turkey & Laughs
Today we made turkey in the oven for the first time(we've always fried). It turned out really amazing. I'm glad I watched food network for 2 weeks to learn tips. Also made green bean casserole, bread dressing, gravy, cranberries, sweet potato casserole, king's hawaiian rolls and deviled eggs. Oh and dessert was pistachio-chocolate pudding 4 layer dessert. (the other 2 layers are cool whip and cream cheese/powdered sugar on a graham cracker crust.)
My mom got a video of Kellis laughing. **it wont upload.... still trying** Kellis was a happy boy after his bath and in his jammies for bed. I didn't know my mom was videoing, I thought she was getting him to smile for pictures and wasn't snapping any. It took him a bit to warm up to new people being around him but he's finally ok with her holding and playing with him for long periods of time.
He is not terribly fond of sitting up (prefers standing, not on his own but me holding him like in the video) but we are working on it and he is getting stronger. His hands go for anything that passes in front of his face. Anything. My hair, face, drink, toys, etc etc etc. And once his hands touch it, they go directly into his mouth. He's not great at holding something and chewing on it but he tries.
He's still sleeping really well. The last 3 days I haven't had to go back in his room after I put him down. He just passes out. This is awesome because there have been times I have gone back in up to 10 times to put his paci back in and rub his belly. I guess he's just so tired lately or maybe he's gotten used to our routine and knows I will NOT take him out if he fusses so he just gives up.
He loves Raider. Its so cute. He watches him and laughs and reaches for him. If only Raider was gentle and sweet and didnt have 3" fingernails. I am working on getting Raider to lay still so Kellis can pet him at least once a day. Problem is when Raider gets attention he wants to play and be crazy so its kind of a circus.
Ok so that wasn't quick but hopefully you are satisfied. hehe
5 months old on Monday! Insane how fast it has gone. I look at his pics from 2-3 months ago and dont even remember him being that small.

4 months
Developmental milestones:
-He brings his hands together now, and then to his mouth. He will reach for a toy if I put it in front of him. He brings his hands together slowly and calculated so he can grab it. Its so cute to watch him try so hard. He's not that into chewing on anything other than his fingers though. He loves that thumb!
-He is really great at tummy time now. He sits there up on his elbows just looking all around or trying to suck his thumb. He will lay there for much longer than he used to. I have to trick him into rolling over, it doesnt happen quite naturally yet.
-His legs continue to be insanely strong. When he's on his tummy, his bottom half will go up into a crawling position and actually push him forward. His arms dont understand what is going on though and he face-plants or drags his face across the mat. I try to support him under his chest so his legs can get a little workout but he usually gets pretty mad that he cant crawl. I can't wait to show the doctor this trick!
-He is sleeping great. He's out by 8pm each night and sleeps 8-12 hours. I'm trying to lengthen his daytime awake/nap periods, as they are still really choppy and about 45min-1hour long still.
-I didn't know this was a skill, but my friend posted that her baby did it so I was happy to know Kellis was doing it too. When he's in the bathtub or propped up on the couch, my lap, his chair or pretty much anywhere he always lifts his head and tries to sit up, doing a "baby crunch." He does it all the time now, working on those abs!!! He will sit in the bumbo chair but is not at all interested in sitting on the floor or couch or me. He prefers to "lounge" as I call it, or just lean back. I'm trying to work on that.
-I'm letting him pet Raider once or twice a day. When Raider is calm but not sleeping I go sit by him and let him lick Kellis' feet while Kellis pets him (I put his hang on him, he doesnt get it yet). Kellis loves being close to Raider and watching Raider so its really important to me that Raider learns to love him and be gentle with him. Scott plays really rough with Ray, so I am a bit worried he wont understand and be rough when he gets to playing with Kellis. Of course Kellis is never alone with Raider but could be in the future if we had a babysitter or something.
Halloween outfit: bib, onesie and socks. (finger in mouth) laughing at Raider running around.

Reindeer-butt jammies!!! LOVE THEM!

Tech outfit!!! (fingers headed for mouth)

Couponing success
prilosec 24ct originally 21.99 - on sale for 19.99
Scott takes it daily and usually I buy the 42 count but they were out and the 24 was the one on sale.
garnier hair color originally 7.99 - on sale for 5.99 - $3 coupon = 2.99 - $2 ON the package coupon (I'm so glad I saw this!) = $0.99
got the same color as we did on sunday. says 28 washes so i'm gonna stretch it out and hopefully wont need more for like 3 months. so excited!
so total was 20.98. had $14 extra bucks from my last trip (would have had $3off15 but it expired boo) = 6.98 + tax = 7.01!!!! and i had a gift card from our Discover cash back bonus so i didnt actually pay anything!! AND i got $3ecb back (for no reason other than i'm awesome) and another $3off15 (which I do plan to use on more prilosec, maybe tomorrow!)
I was just reading my newsfeed and apparently I should have scanned my card at the magic coupon machine. I saw it but thought it was just for price checking. CVS is so close I could go back.....

Fifteen
Kellis is 15 weeks old (as of Tuesday)
He weighs 15 pounds now (75% - really leveling off)
27" long! (99% - wasn't even on the chart)
17" head circumference (84% - catching up!)
His head is growing every day (duh). It is really noticeable to me, its getting more round and normal looking. Looking back at earlier pictures, his poor little head was so deformed!
This is his first nap w/o a swaddle (lasted maybe 30 minutes). It took a while for him to fall asleep but I have time to spare. I'm gonna start letting him nap w/o it if he does ok.
This is a 6-9mo outfit!
Sleep schedule
We have gotten into an amazing sleep schedule. He will sleep 8-11 hours at night now! He gets a bath around 7-7:30 and goes to bed. Wakes up at 4, 5, 6, or 7am. Takes a bottle, diaper change and back to sleep within an hour. Sleeps another 1-3 hours. Up again for about an hour, back to sleep. All day long he's usually only up about an hour then he goes back to sleep. Sometimes in the afternoon he'll be up 2-3 hours eating (making up for all that sleep time). We haven't been going anywhere so its been easy to get him to sleep and stay in this pattern. Kroger is so close now we can make it there and back in about an hour so it doesn't even throw us off.
Trips
We are going to Oklahoma on the 23rd to see Kellis' Great Aunt Peggy, Great Aunt Nancy and Great Grandmother Harkness for Grandmother's 85th birthday. We hope to leave around 6-7am, get to their place around 10-11am and spend a few hours before heading back around 2-3pm. Hopefully Kellis will sleep in the car and not be too tired and cranky.
November 5th we are going to Houston!!! Well, Kingwood and The Woodlands. I am so excited to see all of our friends and eat J. Christopher's pizza! That is a longer car ride, around 4 hours, and we are bringing Raider so it should be interesting.

The pics

He's so close to grabbing his feet. He stares at them for hours and raises them up in the air.

See how bald that head is getting?!?!?

From this position he can roll over onto his back. He doesnt know what he's doing but I guess its a good skill.
13 weeks or 3 months
We are working on neck strength still. I don't have a chair to sit him up in so I just sit him on my lap for a few minutes at a time and let him work on holding up his upper body. His lower body is so strong that he usually ends up laying himself down again. Its really crazy how strong his legs are. He can bear weight on them already. I put him in the jumper thingy that hangs from a doorway and he is still too small for it and doesn't have the upper body control. We'll try again in a couple weeks.
He is becoming a little chunk! He is in 6mo clothes (Carter's) and eating like crazy. Last Saturday he weighed 14 pounds. I'll weigh him again when he wakes up from his nap. Hopefully that isn't for a couple more hours.
The house is coming together. Scott has some crazy fear of boxes being everywhere so he's been working like a dog to get everything put up asap. Its really tiring so I'm glad he's taking charge. We are definitely feeling the loss of the 4th bedroom. There are several boxes that we have absolutely no where to store. We're going to have to get really creative tonight. I'm hoping to hang some pictures or some of my crosses also. It will be nice when I can just enjoy the day and not have to organize or unpack anything.
I was going to put a couple pictures in here but my camera isnt talking to the computer for some reason. I'll have to try again later, I have to go start working on dinner. Meatloaf! It takes an hour to cook and I take forever to prepare so having it ready by 6 is going to be pushing it!

House!
The movers are coming tomorrow to do furniture. We have taken 10 loads in our trucks and probably have 3-4 more before we are done. Its been so tiring using so much energy during the day, cause Kellis is still not sleeping all night. So I dont get a lot of sleep then I'm working hard all day. It will be over soon though! I am so glad to get out of this apartment! I'm really glad that we got the house as early as we did so I had time to pack slowly and I'll have all next week to clean the apartment and finalize things there. We currently have 3 addresses, how insane is that?!? I'm trying to think of a way to send out our new address w/o posting it here or on fb. You may have to wait for Christmas cards, which I promise to get out early, for the new address. Unless you email me.
OH, I found the scale while unpacking at the house and Kellis is 14.0 pounds now! Big guy! He is sleeping a lot better and more predictable. Ah! I hear him, gotta get going!

11 weeks
Kellis is growing like mad! We don't have a scale (its in storage) right now but he is for sure bigger. He fits in the 6mo clothes length-wise but most are still way too wide for him in the shoulders and body. It's going to be interesting to see what fits him in a few months.
His neck strength is really good. I dont have a bumbo or seat to put him in so I sit him on my lap a few times a day and he is able to hold his head up for quite a long time.
He is also able to do what they call a mini-pushup when on his tummy. He has been able to do that for a while now, but now he can flop over onto his back he pushes so hard. He of course has no idea that he is doing it but it happens almost every time. He is always shocked at the change of scenery and of course I'm there to make sure he isnt bonking his head too hard.
His attention span is getting longer, I am able to read an entire book to him without him getting fussy. Granted, kids books are short but still. He is very into colors and looking all around. Most of the time he cries its b/c he's bored (in the car) and wants to see something.
His hair is continuing to fall out! I keep finding it all over his clothes. And his head is growing so fast the new hair cant keep up so he has some interesting hair lines.
He is so so smiley! He loves to be talked to and will always smile when he sees someone looking at him. He babbles and makes noises back to me now, its so cute.
He is very close to figuring out his hands. He rubs his face and sometimes they end up in his mouth but he is always shocked and doesnt understand what's going on. When his arm is extended, sometimes he sees it and tries to figure it out. When he's sitting in his chair he sees his feet moving now and is entertained for a few minutes at a time.
HOUSE:
Well I applied for a house on the 10th. The listing realtor is kind of a ding a ling and slow at getting back to my realtor which is really stressing me out. Scott wants to start moving in this weekend, so we are hoping to have keys by the end of the week. Fingers crossed! I think if they were going to say no we would know by now. They have had our application to look at for 4 days.
As soon as we know something and get papers signed I will be very busy moving! I plan to load up the denali and take over big loads during the day, unpack them and clean the house while I am there. I am hopeful that Kellis will sleep or be content while I do this, then we'll come back to the apartment and he can nap while I load up again. Scott will help me on the weekend get the boxes out of storage and load up everything we can possibly carry and fit ourselves. I will have to schedule movers for sometime next week.
This is all contingent on that other realtor calling my realtor back and setting up a signing of the lease. I hate waiting around! Luckily though there are 8 more houses on the list right now in the nice area of Frisco I love and I'm ready to jump on one if this one falls through.
Raider is very ready to have a house, more room to run and explore and a YARD. We keep telling him how great it's going to be, I think we are more excited than him.
GRANDPARENTS:
My mom was here over Labor Day (see previous post) and Scott's parents came this past weekend. They were going to Oklahoma to see William's family so they stopped at our place on the way there and back to break up the drive. We went out to dinner and got a couple pictures. They had a blast with Kellis and got lots of smiles before heading back to Houston. They already want to come back. It will be so nice to have a guest room so we can accommodate visitors more often.

10 weeks
Its finally getting cooler here. We have taken a couple walks in the evening now. We plan to take more, as both Scott and I need to lose some weight. Here is Kellis in the stroller. This is the first time I used the laying down part of the stroller. He liked the freedom but got fussy if we weren't walking under trees (so he had something to look at).

Kellis is growing like mad. He's getting to the end of 3 month clothes and moving on to 6 month! Carters fit him the best, they are made for long skinny babies. Although his belly is becoming more round! Our next doctor appt isn't until the end of October (4mo shots) but I am hoping to measure him soon and give you some stats!!!
My mom came to visit for Labor Day weekend. She had a blast with Kellis. He is "talking" so much now and smiles when you talk to him. It was a nice break for me to have someone else to take care of Kellis. He missed her the next day, he was extra fussy! We shopped a lot and Kellis got stocked up on 6 and 9 month clothes and jammies. Little kids clothes are SO CUTE!
We are hoping to apply for a rent house today or tomorrow. I have been out with the realtor more times than I care to disclose, and I know she is sick of me! We saw 2 houses yesterday and I just didnt feel good about the neighborhoods so we re-evaluated our list and I'm going to 4 more today in areas I know are nicer. I am really excited that we get to look in Frisco and also that we are hopefully (pray please!) going to have a house in the next week. This has been such a long time coming! I haven't begun to pack yet, possibly I am in denial? I have been thinking this whole time that I will have a few days to truck stuff up myself to save on movers costs so I haven't packed one thing. It's going to be interesting when we open the storage unit to see just how much stuff we have in there (that we haven't needed for 6 months). It'll be like Christmas!!
Speaking of Christmas, we have not decided on holiday travels yet. With the rent house comes added expenses so cost of travel is an issue. Also, Scott's job is very unpredictable so we won't know how busy he is going to be until just a few days before. Hopefully he will be able to take the whole long Thanksgiving weekend off and we can either go to Kingwood or have the Harkness' at our house but we can't make that decision yet. I would really like to take Kellis to Illinois soon but its starting to get cold there and by the time I am ready to travel with him by myself it will be insanely cold/snow/ice season so it'll probably be March or April before he sees The Ranch.

2 month check-up
Height: 23.75" (81st percentile) Down from 97% at birth.
Head: 15.5" (36th percentile) Scott has a small head for his body also. Kellis is almost an exact replica of Scott. Hand and feet pics coming soon. They are identical. Its so cool.
So these are the numbers from the doctor. The chart I was using to calculate is apparently different. She brings her laptop in and does it on the spot so I'm considering her numbers to be more accurate.
She continues to be impressed with his neck strength. She said his push-up abilities are at nearly 4-month levels. She laid him on his belly on the table and I cautioned her that he can kick and nearly crawl so she better hang on to him. Her jaw dropped. It was funny.
Kellis got all of his shots, 3 total in the legs and one orally. The oral one he hated, made the saddest face and almost spit it out. They did 2 at once in the legs and then had to do a 2nd one on the left leg. He immediately started wailing but was fine as soon as I picked him up.
We went to Walmart after the doctor, he took a short nap in the car on the way there. Mostly b/c I was on the phone with Scott and forgot where to turn so I was driving around for a bit. Oops. Then at Walmart, I was hoping one of the close spots would be open (there are 3) and it was! I was soooo happy. Kellis did good until about the bread aisle (starting in the back, had to go to the bathroom and get medicine) so then I hurried and got out of there. He didnt even eat when we got home and out of the carseat (he hates being restrained), he just passed out.
Since he is out, I am hoping to eat lunch. Got laundry in and Raider is begging to go out. The doc said 90% of babies are just sleepy after their shots, fingers crossed we are in that percentage!
No new pics. Maybe if he is awake later. :)
